When you open a parcel of chips, you see this big mound. Okay, not quite as big as Joe's , but impressive enough so you think-OMG we'll never be able to eat all that. And usually you can't (depends on how many people share though & how much you buy) But that sensation of being overwhelmed by the quantity of chips just doesn't happen with a maccas pack.
I read about some big burger being made in Melbourne. It costs about $40 or so, big enough for at least 6 people if you ask me. Apparently if you eat it all you get your money refunded but no one ever has managed it. Burgers are just mince, they're not my fav thing to eat, to be honest.
But if I get to USA I will have to try a maccas just to see what is on offer I guess.

Well, if you get to Texas, Darlin', you must stop at the Big Texan Steak House just west of Amarillo. Order the 72 oz. Steak Deal. If you can eat all the food in one hour......there is no charge. I never have seen anyone who could do it. You have to eat the steak and all the trimmings as well. There's a special stage in the middle of the restaurant that they sit you at, and everyone in the place comes up to take photos of you. It's really quite entertaining to watch. www.bigtexan.com/Get your name in the Hall of Fame.

LOL Joe, sounds like my sister in law's husband, he could always put away a lot, but not so much nowadays. He was disabled in a car accident so isn't that mobile but despite being a big eater, his blood pressure, cholesterol etc, all perfect!
My son once went to Outback steak house I think it was, where they had a big steak & if you could eat all of it in 30 mins or whatever, you got a refund. My son almost made it, it was the carrots that did him in, he said. Hates carrots. Finished the steak, couldn't put away all the carrots.
I'd be the opposite. Not a big steak fan either. Can eat a little bit of it.

Daddy O. I won't be heading in for a 72 oz steak. Couldn't afford to. I'd keel over in a coma and we all know that US hospitals charge like wounded bulls!!

ITS strange this bloke whos name is mario is large but not huge , would not need to go to a special shop to buy clothes , we had a cousin from the usa who would drink on his own every night an average 12 large bottles of beer , his record over 3 weeks here was 20 large bottles on his own = 40 cans but never was drunk an expensive habit. had a pot belly but not a large person ,
to daddy o now mario would have no trouble with that steak , the trouble is would he be allowed to go back for lunch ,dinner and breakfast lol.. one time he went with a bloke i know to a all you eat place in the city, aprox 16 plates later , the owner who knew the bloke mario was with told him dont bring him back.

LOL Joe. Do they actually watch what people eat in those places? I can still remember our first cruise. Front up for breakfast the first morning & there are all these people with plates stacked a mile high. No kidding. I can't understand why as there is nothing to stop you having one lot of things then going back for a clean plate & a course of something else if you want to. Personally I liked the dining room. Never crowded for breakfast & they serve you-better quality too. But I shouldn't speak of food, gotta diet.

IF you eat a real lot like mario they would notice , there has been many court cases mostly in the usa where eat all you want is more available than here these days , when you have seafood , is where the trouble starts , there was a problem with 1 place and as the oysters kept coming out 1 dinner would eat oysters only. management kicked him out then the law suit. in melbourne now there aint much available like they have one at crown but you get a ticket and you can have so many grams of prawns or how many oysters , then theres the langdon hotel no limits yes top food from anything you can think off but close to $100 a head is a bit much food only. on a cruise well they cant realy refuse them entry if they eat too much. the trouble with buffets is there is so much to choose from and thats when the waste kicks in. i think i will cook dinner now .

We went to the Langdon about a year or so back for lunch and it was about $55 a head (special price I think). Very upmarket as far as buffet food choices, I was impressed.
What also impressed me, I did not know, was if you had lunch there you could ask at the desk for a ticket and there was parking across the road-Wilson I think- which was over $50 for a few hours. If you have a ticket from the Langdon though, it is only $12 for parking.
If you were going to pay full price to park, you might as well eat at the Langdon!!

Maybe it should be a requirement that the Cruise Liner weighs you in at the beginning of the cruise, and then weighs you out at the end? Those who gain weight are charged (maybe call it a "Value Added Tax) more than those who lose weight (Negative Value Added Tax)?
Just a thought, but I bet the Cruise Ships would lose a lot of bookings if they did.......no?
So, you ladies are in it for the food.................ehhhhhhh?

That idea would only pass muster if the ships agreed to refund those who lost weight. That would be fair enough if they fined those who gained it.
I go on the cruises more for the destinations but having the food included in the price is a great help. Trouble is, more & more ships are introducing restaurants where you can pay. I have a friend & she & her husband went to one like this every night-and they were on a 54 night cruise!!
Madness. I think people should mainly insist on the main dining room which is no cost, otherwise cruises will take them away.
The entertainment is good too, or can be. It's great to just walk to the theatre from the restaurant then back to your room after a show. But the destinations are mainly what I look at.
And Lola & I are now ready to try the big new modern American ships.

PS Just back to the original report about the fire. Some reporters had fun with it.
It was an unhappy meal for customers at a Melbourne McDonald's who were forced to evacuate after a fire flame-grilled the roof of the store.... The Hamburglar was considered a suspect but has since been cleared," the CFA said in statement
CFA firefighter Jason Petrovich, who is also the manager of the Maccas store, was praised by colleagues for his "crucial insider knowledge" that kept the fire contained to the roof.
They were lucky they had a CFA member as manager!!

Nah, he'd be amongst friends on a cuise, Joe. I've never seen plates piled so high, you'd think there had been a famine & they were all half starved!! LOL They don't care how much anyone eats.
You get 4 courses in the evening in the dining room & you can order a couple of mains if you wish. Mario would enjoy himself.
