Even McDonalds calls itself maccas in a lot of the ads now. Yes, I guess it is an Aussie term. McDonalds is too long. Horrible ad but can't find a more recent one.

Maccas is always what we called it, I have even humourously heard it called McDoodles!

We call it McDonalds in the USA. Never saw lettuce that large before, nor any Big Mac that large either. If I did, I'd be eating there more than I do.

We call it McDonalds in the USA. Never saw lettuce that large before, nor any Big Mac that large either. If I did, I'd be eating there more than I do. McDonalds is its official name but you must have a short version. Their burgers aren't much good. The buns are strange, too white, too soft, too sweet. And they're not as big as the ad makes them look either. And I'll never forget my shock the first time I ever tried one and found they don't include a fried egg. A burger is useless without bacon, fried egg and the works.
The best maccas ad was a couple of years back when they apologised for their terrible coffee and promised to get in some barista training and decent coffees.

In the USA, their coffee is better than Starbucks at half the price. But they have aliways had the best fries (chips?) of anyone here.

Starbucks went out of business here. Their coffee was atrocious apparently. Over here (so I have heard) we are more like the Germans. You won't win us with that brewed coffee that sits around in percolators. We like a latte, cappuccino, flat white, long or short black. And we prefer it served in china cups & saucers. Or I do.
The Mc Cafes here do a lot better because they serve all that. I don't think their chips are all that good, not here. Haven't had a chance to try the American ones of course.
The fish and chip shop here does a much better chip-much bigger, crunchier, with potato cakes. They wrap the parcel up in white paper-sort of like butchers paper, and you get a lot more for your money than you do compared to any of the maccas or KFC packs. Probably not as good for the waistline though, to get a big parcel of chips.
Next time we get a pack I should take a photo to show you. Mind you, I am supposed to be on a diet, had high blood pressure last doctor's visit. Makes me feel old, that does!

That's right, Joe. well, perhaps half the size, but you get the picture, daddyo. That's what a serve of chips is meant to look like so the piddly little cardboard packs that come with a maccas meal are a bit of a disappointment to the arteries.

How about posting a video of you eating that? Let's see what "Real Aussies" do with their MACCA.
