Love the beagle. I wish my dogs would react like that to dry food. They will only touch a bit of it under sufferance but we used to have a corgi who was a good eater.
The other thing looks like some sort of meat mincer maybe. But not exactly. The whole thing looks open, as if you push something solid in and cube it.

Aha! I get it now. I've got an easier thing by Bessemer that does a similar job to make chips, only it is more in the line of a mandolin slicer so not quite as bulky. I love all my kitchen gadgets but they take up room!

this is a more industrial one much stronger and fish and chip shops are very similar but go up and down and the chips fall into a large bucket

Absolutely correct Joe. When I was younger I did a lot of work for the City of Killeen, TX and Fort Hood. I needed a building that I could put an office in that would staff about 15 people. The best deal I could find was an inactive restaurant near Ft. Hood. I bought the building, put my staff on one side of it and made the horrible mistake of reopening the restaurant/bar side. I never lost so much money in my life. The average waitress was 17 years old, pregnant and married to a buck private. When they weren't sitting on their butts doing nothing, they were stealing me blind. I lost near $145,000 in the two years I had it opened and then finally wised up and sold it to some other sucker.
I keep the French Fry cutter to remind me not to ever get into a business that I have not worked in before. The restaurant business has one of the highest failure rates of all businesses in the USA. I learned that lesson the hard way.
Good job in spotting it Joe.
BTW - it still works great. Nothing better than freshly made French fries from real potatoes........but it is a pain in the rear to clean it.

Have you seen those air fryer ads? I sometimes wonder how well they work. I bought an air fryer a year or so back. It worked for 10 minutes, I checked chips, turned it on for another 10 minutes-nothing. Dead. I returned it for a full refund. They offered me an exchange but I'd lost my enthusiasm. Just as well too as I wrote a bad review & found half a dozen other people who had much the same experience with that brand.

Oh & I know chopper things can be a pain to clean. I do have one Tupperware round chopper though that is a joy to use if you want to finely chop onions in seconds, or just about anything else like that. And rinses clean in seconds too. I love it when gadgets work!
PS And OMG at losing that much money in 2 years. That would have been about 2 years of wages for me! Wiped me out! I can believe it would not be easy to run a food place.

Most fast food restaurants here make their fry's out of "reconstituted" potatoes, which is basically all of the left overs from the potato industry that are ground up and shoved through a fry mold. Not very good. But for some reason, McDonalds has the best fries in the fast food market.
