I think not.
It seems as though the President of Taiwan has out-maneuvered The Donald. Apparently Tsai Ing-wen of Taiwan made a call to The Donald yesterday to congratulate him on his victory, and they both promised to call again today, which they did.
This maneuver has irritated the Chinese because The Donald has reneged on the "One China Policy", which was established in 1979, I believe. This policy recognizes only China as the mighty power in the east, and not Taiwan. Seems as though The Donald did not know about the policy...............imagine that.
China filed a formal complaint today chastising the USA for their breech of the 1979 agreement.
Don't anybody tell the Chinese that the USA has sold billions of dollars of weapons to Taiwan over the last 40 years so they can defend themselves from the Red Giant.
It's going to be an interesting 4 years.

How are things settling in the US now? Have people come to grips with the new order? To me, if the US is allowed to trade with Taiwan, they should be entitled to talk to leaders there. That isn't saying that Taiwan is the new China, just acknowledging they exist.

Actually, I don't think anyone outside of USA has any real expectation that Trump would know the ropes all that well. He'll be like a bull in a china shop for a while, no surprises there.

Actually, I don't think anyone outside of USA has any real expectation that Trump would know the ropes all that well. He'll be like a bull in a china shop for a while, no surprises there. Hubby says about that, Trump can buy the experience, and already he has all the advisers at hand, only thing is, he doesn't want to go into the White House to live, he wishes to stay at the Trump building, and will only accept $1 annual wage for being President, rather than $400,000 Also, he doesn't want other unknowns to handle his business empire, thus letting his family (kids) manage it instead. What a lot of changes one has to go through, and I bet in a way, Trump has some issues thinking he wishes he didn't win. I know he can handle it, he is tough, and I think it will be very interesting to see how things pan out. Apparently, I heard, that more people had voluntarily voted than ever before because that is how Trump inspired them. As for China taking offence and protesting against Trump being friendly with Taiwan I don't really get it, after all, does China want to have a power hold over the USA and their friends? Yes indeed, I look forward to seeing the next 4 years.

Fuck China. Furthermore their military is too shithouse to do anything but suppress peasants and engage in mutually assured destruction.
At least they didn't spend 200 mn USD on a plane that can't fly yet and has no avionics (F-35).
Damn. Whitehall will be pissed when that donkey gets shut down!
