Did any of you make any new year's resolutions? I made a few. Here's a report on how I am going.
There's the -lose weight & eat healthier perennial, I make it every year. So far, not so good, will have to try harder from today.
-make a photo text book & write up dad's story. This basically is just transcribing as dad wrote it when he was alive. I just need to add photos. I need to do it as the paper he wrote on was poor quality & is deteriorating. It would be nice to have a more permanent record for the grandkids etc I've been trying a program called Booksmart & also another one from the same company, called Bookwright. It's a bit of a steep learning curve for me as I can't easily do the things I am used to doing in other photo programs, but I need to stick it out as it has the text box options I need. But oh boy, the help desk will soon be sick of me. I haven't even quite made up my mind which program to use, let alone made a start. I will have to try harder.
-teach myself touch typing. Found a couple of free websites and promised myself at least 10 minutes a day. Have been keeping to this and can see improvement but it takes intense concentration. I promised myself I can go back to two finger typing in between lessons. Just till I pass the learning hump.
But one thing on these websites gives me a demented chuckle. They promise you will be touch typing in hours. What is it with our instant society? No, you won't be touch typing in hours. You will be on about lesson 5 (out of 70) and only doing about the first 8 keys. My guess is real ease & proficiency is going to take months. I've only done the first row and a couple of upper letters. Need to try harder.
So, what new things are you trying out this year??

Minimise 'stuff' from the house, doing a clean up.....probably a handful of stuff so far, looks like a long haul in this area, slowly slowly! Finish off the online diploma courses......I just sort of keep it at limbo for now until I find more time for such pleasurable stuff. Well, one thing done, going to the movies more often, so far, twice this new year!! And, watch more of all those DVD's we have, including 'sets'......instead of just sitting on the shelves looking pretty (and to not watch movies on free tv with all them ads!) Speaking of ads, we actually counted it one session, and there were 15 adverts!! I mean, one after the other, not during the entire movie we were watching. It's ridiculous, so that's a biggie, not to watch too many shows on tv. For instance, last night, "Taken" was on, he (hubby) says we'll watch that, I said certainly not, for starters, we have seen it twice already, second, we have the dvd, and third, don't want to watch movies on tv with too many ads....get it? Why do I have to keep reminding him!

The number of ads all in a row is getting out of control, for sure. There have been times I have gone away, made a cup of tea, unloaded the dishwasher then get back to sit down and the ads haven't finished!!

Buy another boat.............go fishing.
If you're going to make New Year's Resolutions.............make good ones.....not bad ones.
My moto has always been.....Eat, Drink & Grab Mary.....and when you're dead, you're dead.....but,.......there will be that big smile on your face.

Moving money to Panama aint easy let me tell you. Try the Caymen Islands. Do. A direct deposit, don't pay taxes and get a MasterCard for all purchases. Just a thought.......not that I do that.......
