Probably only in the summer, since no one had hot water in them days. actually, they all washed on every week day, but as they only washed every leap year day on the 29th of february, it took them 24 years to wash on every day of the week. here is a list of leap years from 1932 to 1888.. monday feb 29th 1832 saturday feb 29th 1836 thursday feb 29th 1840 tuesday feb 29th 1844 sunday feb 29th 1850 friday feb 29th 1854 wednesday feb 29th 1860 monday feb 29th 1864 saturday feb 29th 1868 thursday feb 29th 1872 tuesday feb 29th 1876 sunday feb 29th 1880 friday feb 29th 1884 wednesday feb 29th 1888 some things never change eh.. incidently, on a century year, a leap year is not used, but it is used every 400 years.. ie: 1700, 1800 and 1900, were not leap years, the year 2000 was a leap year, likewise 2100, 2200 and 2300 will not be leap years, but 2400 will be. the point here is this, in 1797 there was a mass migration of thousands upon thousands of poms to melbourne australia, this mass migration lasted for 14 years, but, seeing as how the leap year was 1796, and the next leap year wasn't until 8 years later in 1804, this meant that thousands upon thousands of smelly poms who had not washed for 8 years, all washed in the yarra river on the same day, thereby polluting the yarra river so badly that this pollution is still present today, in fact the pollution is so bad that the yarra river is dubbed as the river that "floats upside down." this is a great history lesson don't you think (if anyone would like to share this informative piece of history on the sanddancer site, please do so, i'm sure that namby pamby poofter pansie andy would love it )
