As some of you probably know, I have been on Ancestry website a few years now, had my DNA done there as well. Tonight for some reason I felt I should check in to look at the DNA matches again & so glad I did. Back about 5 years ago, someone helped me trace what we thought was most likely my maternal grandfather's tree. My grandfather went under a different name, had cut all contact, was extremely difficult to trace, was just luck really we found him at all. But always there has been the thought-maybe we've made a mistake, got the wrong person. Tonight I saw a name come up as a second cousin match. It's a woman who is now my facebook friend & who is related to the same tree. She's from Hertfordshire in England. So bingo. Scientific evidence we have the right tree. The woman has not linked her DNA results to any trees on Ancestry, it's just lucky I recognised her name & who she was.

DNA is a real boon, Joe. I had already traced the tree but to have DNA proof-it's hard to describe the feeling. Just very satisfying to have that certainty.
