She's in the habit of posting 'inspirational' stuff but what do you think of WHO definition?
I think it's rubbish myself.
By no definition can you call 65 'youth'. (in my opinion)
To me, youth means young. If I hear on the news that youths were involved in some crime or other, I don't get the message they mean people in their 60s.
I don't know that you can put exact numbers on it all but I think nature gives us an inkling. Youth (to me) is probably the period up until about age 30, when you're growing up, studying or just starting out in the workforce, perhaps meeting new people, going out etc
By the time you're in your 40s you're still fit & healthy but I'd say you're in middle age. Your child bearing years are coming to an end, you are usually in the workforce & in the middle of raising a family or pursuing your career.
By 65 onwards, most people have little niggling health problems that are starting to raise their head, things they didn't have in younger life. Maybe a touch of arthritis or blood pressure or whatever. So I'd be inclined to say 70 onwards is heading into older age.
The trouble with all these new pronouncements by institutions like WHO is everyone knows they count for nothing in the real world. Try getting travel insurance over age 70 with a lot of companies & see if they consider it simply middle age. Try getting a job anywhere at 65 & see if the company considers you still a 'youth'.
