I declare the swimming season officially open as of this week! We've had a burst of summer-like weather with temps in the 30c's and the pool temp got to 28 1/2c. Below 29c you won't usually get me in the water. My daughter had a swim about a week or so back on a hot day but water was only 26c, too cold for me. But I went in on Wednesday & it was nice. What's the weather like in your part of the world? (Pic is my granddaughter in the pool)

me too Joe. To cap it all off, the power went off last night around 8pm. John went to the check all the switches in the meter box, one was off & he switched it on, still no power. Checked with neighbours, they were out too. It was getting too late to have enough light to read, no TV, No Aircon, no computer. So I had an early night. This morning, still out. So John checked with neighbours, who said theirs only stayed out for 30 mins, so back to the meter box, turned the switch back to off, and on came the power. I'm not too sure how all the stuff in the fridge & freezer will be now, after 12 hours without the power.

Sorry granty, I clicked on your post and somehow my post got mixed in with it, so have deleted back. What I meant to say was I see what you mean, I looked up the chart and it showed 4c in South Shields. You must be made of tougher stuff than we are. My husband likes it 22c in the house so we always seem to have either heating or cooling going. Not that long ago that we had the heater on, to be honest. Just this last week or so that it has warmed up.

I used to hate that too. We have a garage but my husband's car goes in it & when my son lived at home, his car took the second space & I parked outside so occasionally had frosts to scrape off. Do you have some sort of cover you can put over the windscreen?

Actually, my car problem this week has been the other way round. Couple of times I have gone out, parked the car & really burnt my hands when I came back, trying to steer. Forgot to put the reflector up.

Well, it's too damn cold in Florida to go swimming in the pool.......but, the Gulf of Mexico has warm water year 'round......especially Miami. Time for some good Cuban food.

The weather bureau is now forecasting storms and flash flooding like we've never seen before. They're making it sound like the end is nigh, that this is unprecedented.
But I have a long memory. I remember back when mum was in hospital Nov-Dec 2007 and we had a deluge of rain and flash floods everywhere then too. I had to find a new way to drive home.
And flash floods in 2012. And other times.
Anyway, we'll wait & see.
But I think we can just tend to get these sorts of storms at this time of year, with warm air around and then pressure systems blowing in.

The storm front has passed. There was some rain over the weekend but only moderate so the worst of it didn't hit Melbourne. The weather has been much milder as far as temp goes, you're right. In the low 20s and I am preferring it. Due to be 21c today & tomorrow, 25c on Thursday then a bit all over the place after that. Mind you, I don't take these 7 & 10 day forecasts too seriously. As far as I can see, they really only seem to have a clear idea about 3 days in advance.
