I remember back in my teaching days, I had the daughter of a fellow teacher in my class. The mother had been at our school but moved on. Her daughter was a lovely girl but went to extra things every night after school. Ballet, piano, swimming etc. She never had one single night free, which I thought was over the top but didn't say anything, none of my business. Anyway at a parent info evening the mother asked why I had to hand out homework on Monday to be back on Friday as it didn't suit them at all, they were busy after school every night. Why couldn't I hand it out Monday to be back on the following Monday, that way students would have the weekend as well.
I was surprised because she was a fellow teacher so I thought she would realise if I did that, when would I have time to correct it? That's what I did on the weekend. In the end I said to all the parents there that I would ask for homework by Friday but if anyone had a reason where they needed the extra time, just ask & it would be okayed as I could correct maybe one or two on Monday but not all 30.

I don't know if this qualifies as a silly question or answer... but anyway, one of my daughters has just started trying to toilet train her son (he's 2). She has this sticker chart, each time anything lands in the potty, he gets a sticker & once he collects 12, she told him he would get a small reward-some little toy figure he wanted. Things weren't going well. He hates that potty, threw it across the room at one stage (empty, thank goodness) but he's smart enough, he tells her after he has wet his pants etc Well, today he used it, got a sticker & my daughter told him-well done, only 5 more stickers to get and you will have the prize. So.. he kept going over to the potty, doing a few drops, getting a sticker, going back etc. Got his next 5 stickers in 20 minutes. Then relaxed once he got the toy. Silly reward system maybe?

Not a silly question or answer, just a silly offer. There's a website here in Aust that does photo gifts-you know the sort of thing-mugs, chopping boards, Christmas tree ornaments (flat ceramic ones), photobooks etc They are currently running a Kris Kringle sale. But their cut off day for postage by Christmas was back on Dec 1st. People are supposed to give their KK the voucher, I suppose, to make their own. I'm currently out of sorts with the company anyway. I had a voucher to make 4 of the ornaments. We're talking quite small-maybe 2-3 inches?, flat & very light. According to them standard postage with no tracking was $19.95 and express post was $45! (What would the ebay mob think of that, Joe??) Their definition of express post is up to 14 days by the way. But why didn't they have their KK sale in Nov if the cut off date for normal post was 1st Dec?

Wow, that's a massive saving, Joe. Very good price. I think for big or heavy things you're often better off with couriers. I've never had too many problems with Aust post for everyday mail. Honestly, these flat ornaments are about the weight of plastic. I'll show you a picture of a similar one. Only difference will be the new ones have a little photo of the kids on it with the year. Even Aust post wouldn't charge $19 for standard postage for those.

I'd be happy with eg $9.99 as I know it is postage materials & handling, not just the postage cost. But I do feel $45 for express post is excessive. And yes, all 4 could easily fit in a small padded bag or whatever. They are only coming from Reservoir, it's not even interstate. But the good news is I have had a win. My voucher was to make 4 of these ornaments & it 'included postage'. But when I uploaded the voucher number it accepted it but only credited me about $7.10 postage & left me with a balance of $11.85 to pay. So I rang customer help line to query this. Couldn't get through, kept trying. Requested the call back-they never called back. Emailed, no response. So I just gave up & paid. I did go to their site and write a query where I was given a ticket number & have at last had a reply that they have credited me with the $11.85.

Not a silly question but I think a silly news article. It had the title of 'Top shoe styles the year you were born'. What woman wouldn't quickly click on for a peek? Disappointment: There are 51 slides but it starts at 1967 so it misses me by about a mile. But here's the silly bit. It finishes in 2017. Remember the title of the article is top styles the year YOU were born. There must be a lot of smart 6 month old kids out there who are reading. And apparently anyone born before 1967 is too old or past it & doesn't use the internet.
