This is on one of our real estate sites-not for sale here obviously-but just a general interest report.
House is in Dallas Texas.
To me it shouts '60s style more than '50s & I think it has a huge slab of 2017s added to it, but I love it!
It's not what I think of as a typical '50s or '60s home though.
With over 3 bathrooms & 4 bedrooms, it is much larger than most homes here in the 1950s, that's for sure. My parents moved into their first home in the '50s & it was a 2 bedroom weatherboard, one bathroom & toilet down the back of the yard.
The things that strike a memory chord-the aqua colour. The couch style. The outdoor planters in bold colours.
I really like a lot of the designs from the '60s.
I was just wondering though, what things do you remember from the '50s or '60s or associate with that era? (assuming you're old enough to remember)
For me it would be
-floral carpets
-rounded cream coloured fridges that only had a freezer space big enough for a peters block of Neapolitan icecream (only bought occasionally as a treat)
-the plastic canisters.
Did anyone else have these in their homes as kids?
I remember my mum had a set like this:
And a set of these. In fact this exact same canister-same design, same colour, we just cleared out of my parents' house a couple of years back. Lid was missing & unit was a bit cracked (it was holding packets of dog food & treats) so my sister tossed it out.
