Just read this on one internet site. It's about a reality TV show here called "The Block." Now, the Block is a renovator show, were 5 sets of contestants were given houses next to each other & each week had to renovate & furnish a room, with points given at the end of each week to the winners for that room. Then at the end they do up the garden etc and finally the houses go to auction. The couple who can get the most over their reserve get $100,000 in prize money plus all contestants get to keep anything over the reserve. www.msn.com/en-au/entertainment/tv/the-block-finale-just-opened-our-eyes-to-a-seriously-depressing-reality/ar-AAucUQi?ocid=spartandhpNow, there was major disappointment for some partners because their houses 'only' reached eg $2.6 million (which was under reserve), although they did sell immediately after auction for a decent profit. But the article has a point. It's getting almost impossible for what I consider normal people to get a toe hold in the property market now. I worry about my grandkids. Back when I was young, people could buy in inner suburbs but there is now a huge divide. There is no way I could afford any of these places & I don't see how average workers on wages under $100,000pa (which is most people) could. So it makes me wonder-where to next for the young ones?

I think you are 100% correct, even in my street 2 years ago $500.000 this year 800+ , but things have changed. when i was in my teens ,we lived in a house with a toilet outside a copper to wash clothes no dishwasher 1 tv no garage or carport no dishwasher. no air con , no cars.no mobiles. now my daughter lives a bit further out , but has garage 2 toilets a couple of tvs dishwasher ,washing machine dryer, theater room 3 bedrooms a study a dining and lounge room , 2 cars . the other day everything at home was biping making a noise the dishwasher microwave and oven all were finished , we have 3 cars in our driveway 5 tvs 4 computers 3 mobiles , 2 toilets, [ now sometimes i say which were tougher ] remember in the block prices will be higher because its a tv house also , we dont have to have $250 door handles when a $10 one does the same job, ps sherri sherlock holmes made me laugh
