Went up to Whitburn tonight in a bitterly cold Northerly wind to try and catch my first Cod of 2017. Came back with these two beauties, one about 4 pound, and one about 3 pound. What a way to start the year

Today was a nice sunny calm but cold day. So I pulled this 4 pounder up the cliff. Cod pie for tea on Monday.

Well done. Is that place the isolated rock you have to jump over to?

You definitely need to come to Florida. Not sure if we have Cod or not......waters here are pretty warm, But we got Grouper...one of my most favorite fish to eat.....especially blackened and grilled on the Barbie.
Sounds like another Daddy O video might be in the works?
Beautiful fish amigo....will you compete in the "Open" this year?

I failed miserably.

Hope to get out again maybe Sunday. It's a good forecast, big tides with a North Westerly wind so the sea should be big. Big enough to bring the Cod in to feed. Only thing is, is when it's big, you have to go to Whitburn, I'll let you know how I get on. www.bbc.co.uk/weather/ne33

Good luck amigo.....but then again, you don't seem to need it.
Have you got any good recipes for Cod? I'm headed to the fish market today to buy a pound or two. We have Pacific Cod here, which I'm sure is not as good as that cold water Atlantic Cod.
Your photos make my mouth water.

When ever I catch a Cod or two, the daughter is a health freak and loves white fish, so she gets half. So the wife makes me Cod pies for work, with the rest. She puts the filleted and skinned cod in the bottom of the tray, puts a whisked egg over it, with cheese and onions, then a good helping of mashed potato with grated cheese and sliced tomatoes on the top. Then she bakes them in the oven for half an hour. Here's an old picture of a few.

BTW - Good Luck.....the world needs less Cod in the Sea, and less Elk in the mountains of New Mexico.

It doesn't look like I'll be out over the weekend, I'm working Saturday and Sunday. And you know what they say "time and tides wait for no man"
