Wow that first one sounds super easy. I don't know if I have seen a roast that looks like that, with the bones sticking out. Lamb racks yes, but not beef. How long for medium, I wonder. My husband won't touch rare anything. My son will. My favourite beef roast is the rump roast, that's always tender. expensive though. Leg of lamb, cheaper.

I didn't know that, Joe. That would be one expensive slab of meat too then. My son bought some slow cooking metal add on for his charcoal weber. I think it is a smoker. He bought it online & sent out from USA & loves it but I forget what sort of meat he does in it.

Ah, those. I have bought them a couple of times when my son lived at home. I remember I would buy 2, one for him, one for his girlfriend if she stayed for dinner. I remember him asking if they came from a dinosaur.
From memory they are about $10 each or more so a big roast like daddyo had in his link-$40-$50?
I might have to stick with the rump roast or leg of lamb. Pity, as that recipe looked super easy. It probably works for other roasts though, it's sort of like part normal part slow cooking.

I had a good look at the meat counter at Coles this morning. Saw rib roasts there. Most were only 2 bones in but they were like the ones in the original link so there you go, I was wrong & we do have them. I don't know why I hadn't noticed them before. They were $36 a kg.

In the US, we pay about $12 per pound, which equates to about $27 per kilo.
And that's for Boneless Prine Rib......which is just about the most expensive cut of meat here.
Damn girl......if you have enough land, buy and raise a calf. You'll never have to mow your yard again.

I'm on a fairly big block. Probably one cow could wander(supposing council regulations allowed, which I very much doubt) but we would make a pet of it, no way could I have it killed. My daughter would never speak to me again!
I have to admit, Coles wouldn't be the cheapest place for meat. I'll price them again when I am at Dandenong market, supposing they have any.

yes it would be cheaper other places with the bone out its whole scotch fillet so prob about $20 kg which is ckeaper than sliced scotch fillet. could i borough the cow to do my back yard , maybe you could hire it out lol. talking about prices my sister lives in brighton which some would know can be an expensive suburb , at the local fish shop , flathead fillets of fish were $75 kg, ouch everything is expensive there but thats crazy. to the people who dont know what flathead is, its a fish that years ago fisherman would through them back , now they are fashionable and normaly sell for about $30 kg . looks like a small croc has deadly spines on it ,

Yes, I remember flathead weren't the main fish people would go after. Dad occasionally went out fishing with mates and they might come home & say-only a couple of flathead & a..... whatever.
