I thought I would share some old photos with you. Just in case anyone has time to browse and finds them interesting.
I have been going through a few old photo albums that belonged to my parents and scanning some pictures as I am hoping to make a digital album of dad's photos and the summary/story about his life that he wrote for me a year or so before he died.
That's how I happen to have some on my computer now. Quality isn't great I am afraid, they are fading and marked. Most of these are from the war years when dad was in the navy, mainly based around Subic Bay.

I have had to make the photos smaller to get them to load but if they are hard to see, I think if you click on them, they will come up larger. I think this is of ex pows.

Sometimes the people would sail little boats out to trade with the sailors.

Here's one (the second one) from 1946 I think it could be Brisbane before the victory parade. Or else SA. But I think Brisbane. Wish they were better labelled. It is a lesson to us all. Develop some of your photos or save them, clearly labelled as no one will know what they are exactly after you've gone.

Great Pics Sherri. If you want to get rid of Photobucket, try using Google Photos. It is free and the storage is free also, and very fast once your photo's are uploaded to the Cloud.
It takes a little bit of learning curve, but I figured out my problem in an hour or so.

Well, I haven't mastered it, obviously. I'll have to work on it.

There is a Google Photo Uploader app that will search your entire machine and find every picture on it and store it in Numerical Date order.......if you haven't found it yet. That saves you a lot of time.

I haven't gone through enough or spent enough time to get a proper handle on it yet. At the moment it looks as if I have it on public and I don't want to store every photo I own on a public settling so I will have to look into it and also how to post a link on a board that shows as a photo and not as a link.

Here is an old photo that is rather historic and can't say I have seen photos of it from quite this angle. The signing of the surrender (or signing of the peace) in Toyko Bay 1945. It is definitely a photo. Not a commercial postcard or anything like that. But.. I have my doubts my father took it as he was a young Australian private and I can't imagine him being given such a ring side seat. Dad is dead now and I regret never asking him. I think possibly some Australians from the Hobart was there. Maybe some more senior members. And one of them took it and had multiple copies developed. Or else someone dad knew took it. He did say that as a cook he had connections the rank and file didn't have and they often had access to info etc the others didn't. That's my best guess.
