I took this picture in my Sister-In-Laws backyard. These are two mature Sandhill Cranes and their newborn baby......mighty tasty birds, but are now protected.......at least in Florida.

Beautiful photo. You sister in law must have a very big backyard. It looks like some kind of lake there. I was shocked to hear you would even consider eating them!! But I guess a lot of people must have if they are now protected.

We haven't an orange grove but we have one orange tree in the backyard. The fruit is almost ready. That's probably the best thing about the winter, the oranges come into season then.

I'll send you a Florida Orange, and you send me an Australian Orange. I'm curious if they taste the same. And.......to sweeten the deal, I'll throw in some Louisiana Cajun Spices...........for the next time you host a Cajun Crawdad Boil . Feel free to throw in a box of Vegemite...............ugggghhhhhhhh.

Did I see Ospreys nests on the telegraph poles when I was driving over there?

I think it is like apples-there are different types of orange trees. We have 2 apple trees too but they are a dead loss. They start to grow apples and then.. they either get pecked by birds or don't seem to grow or, like our last effort, every half grown apple disappeared. I'm not sure exactly when but I was sitting out under a tree with my grandson looking at them one day & about 4 days later when I wandered down, not an apple. I suspect possums. Birds wouldn't finish them off so completely-there weren't any on the ground either. Or at the top of the tree either. I'd suspect someone jumped the fence & stole them if they had been anywhere near ripe but they weren't.

Did I see Ospreys nests on the telegraph poles when I was driving over there? Yes, either that or the American Bald Eagle........very endangered species that hangs around downtown areas..................go figure. If you kill one........you can go to jail for 10 years. If you murder your spouse.................2-4 years. Hey...................It's America for Christ sake..................apparently, we like our Eagles......not sure why..........they taste a lot like chicken.
