Oh yes, I had a cup of this, without even realizing it was the world's most expensive coffee!! Luwak coffee....at $50 a cup And I was thinking $5 a cup was expensive, for Bali. We had a day out discovering different parts of Bali recently, and this was one of the stop overs, to experience different coffees and teas. The cats they have 'civets' I think they are, process the coffee bean when they digest it, and comes out looking like a rocky road. From there I think they just clean it up, and roast it. It tasted, mild yet bitter, had a lot of sediment at the bottom of the cup, so when I stirred in a million sugars, I had to wait for the sediment to settle at the bottom of cup again before drinking it. Wasn't so bad, but I don't see the fuss about spending $50 for it. Tastes much like any coffee freshly ground really. I have uploaded some photos and they tell the story. First thing my daughter said when she saw the cats in cages, was how sad and cruel that seems. Lets see if photobucket works tonight.

I agree with your daughter, those cages are far too small and the environment is awful. They should have a natural run but I guess it might be harder to collect their droppings. Still, the cages are way too small and bare. Very sad.
Was the cup of coffee include don your tour or did you have to pay separately for it? I suppose it is a once in a lifetime experience but sheesh, talk about expensive! Wonderful photography, by the way. Thanks for sharing.

What is wrong with you girls? Drinking coffee that a cat (Funniest looking cat I have ever seen) craps it out.
You gals live on a different side of the world than I do...................shiver.
My wife and I are off to Cabo San Lucas tomorrow morning. Change planes in Houston and then a straight shot to the Baja Peninsula.
I'll post photos as I go along.......be back on May 1 if I don't get thrown in jail................hey....it's Mexico.
I wonder if the cats are edible and taste like coffee? There could be a market for that in Louisiana......those Bubbas will eat anything that crawls, walks or slithers.
